Have you heard about bookmarks even if you are not a computer geek? We all have. I am an avid reader, and I love collecting free colorful bookmarks from my local library. And I put those bookmarks to use once I start reading a new book.
Bookmarks in Qlikview perform similar function. They are used to store a predetermined set of selections mainly for those of you who perform similar analysis on a regular basis.
Recently, I noticed that Qlikview will not display list of bookmarks, in the drop down list, in the access point even if you share bookmarks with other users. That made me think.
What if I create dynamic bookmark bar that users can select from to retrieve specific bookmark? You see, need is mother of invention.
In this tutorial, I am sharing my approach to create a dynamic bookmark list box.
Step 1: Create a list of Bookmark labels to display by creating an inline table.
Step 2: Create associated bookmarks. When user selects a Bookmark name from the list, an associated bookmark will bring a set of predetermined selections.
Step 3: Add a trigger on the Bookmark Name field to display respective bookmark upon user selection.
That’s it.
